VOLUMINEX in Paris for their 2026 Annual Meeting
The VOLUMINEX annual meeting was held on the 9-10 April at Sorbonne University in Paris. Thirteen team members took part, representing all five partners of the VOLUMINEX consortium. Hosted by Martin Weigt at Sorbonne’s Pierre and Marie Curie campus, the meeting included presentations from each partner as well as discussions on the future of VOLUMINEX.
Project coordinator Ian Hoffecker started the meeting with an overview of the current status of the technical work packages. KI presented their progress towards growing and imaging DNA polonies in 3D gels. SU presented their efforts in work on simulating proximity networks from synthetic and actual data. ST gave a presentation on their instruments that will be used in sequencing and imaging the gel-embedded polonies and PMC described the organoid models that will be used later in the project.
In addition to presenting preliminary work on spatial networks, KTH also led discussions of the end-to-end pipeline for the VOLUMINEX technology. There was also time to discuss the ongoing management of the project and dissemination and communication activities, as well as some preparation for the first periodic review meeting which will take place on the 24th April.
Overall, the meeting was a success with many fruitful discussions and opportunities for the team to bond, whether in front of a whiteboard of over a crêpe. Thank you to Paris for the amazing sunny weather, and to Martin and his team for hosting. We look forward to revealing the details of the 2027 annual meeting in the future.
